MEET THE TEACHERAll students are invited to come to school on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, to meet their new teacher. Meet the Teacher will run from 9am - midday. You can call in anytime during the morning to do this. Once you have been greeted at the office, you will be escorted over to your new class, where you will have the opportunity to meet the teacher, drop off stationery, and ask any questions you may have. |

The technology fee covers the cost of the take-home materials from hard materials, food and fabric technology. Payment of fees can be made through cash or EFTPOS at the school office. We encourage families to set up weekly or fortnightly automatic payments to pay accounts, as this makes it easier to spread the costs out. Alternatively, you can pay via internet banking to the school bank account (bank details are below). All extra curricular activities are to be paid for prior to the start of the activity. School camps are to be paid as per the camp letters sent out prior to each camp. |

ABSENTEEISM AND LATENESS |

A text message or email will be sent if you have not made contact. If we have no contact from home, your child will be recorded as truant. If your child is away for more than 3 days, we ask that you provide a medical certificate. If your child is late, they need to report to the office and sign in using the Ipad at the front desk. |

School event information and communication will be on the school facebook page. Please check this regularly for updates. Our newsletter is emailed out regularly and is also posted on Facebook. Please keep your details and email address up to date by notifying our school office of any changes. Our policies and procedures are available on SchoolDocs. We have a strong commitment to working in partnership with whānau - so please do not hesitate to contact us. |

UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS |
For safety reasons, we request that jewellery of cultural significance be worn under the school shirts. Long hair must be tied up. Children are able to wear a single pair of plain, small studs or small circular sleepers, in the lower ear lobe. No other piercings are permitted - this includes, but is not limited to, upper ear piercings, nose rings, tongue rings, and belly rings.
We have nail polish and make-up remover in the office for students that do not meet our uniform expectations. |

We are an optional BYOD school which means that children are able to bring devices from home to use in the classroom. All children will be issued with a school email account. It is their responsibility to keep their password secure. All computer use during school time, and/or with school accounts, must be in accordance with our ICT use policies and agreements. |

UNIFORMS |
Our school uniform is available from NZ School Uniforms - 589B Tremaine Avenue, Palmerston North, 4410Students are required to wear full school uniform to and from school and jackets must be the regulation school jacket. FOOTWEAR Students can wear EITHER plain black shoes and plain black socks or plain black sandals. Any black socks are fine - they do not have to be from the uniform shop. They must be plain with no labels or emblems. Black stockings are also permitted. Winter shoes must be plain black lace up shoes - we allow leather pull on shoes (see photo provided), but not canvas pull up shoes. Students are permitted to wear leather look black sport shoes - provided they are completely black. They cannot have any other colour - this includes the sole. Sandals must be plain leather, without decorations and must not extend up over the ankle or up the leg. They must also have a heel strap. No form of jandals or scuffs are acceptable. Sandals are not to be worn with socks. For technology classes, children require shoes that cover their entire foot. Children are able to bring sneakers on technology days to change into. Feilding Intermediate has a full time technology team offering students practical knowledge and skills as they develop models, products and systems in hard materials, food technology, visual art and fabric.
Feilding Intermediate has a proud tradition of excellence in sports – across a range of codes. We have large numbers of children participating in sports teams, and are able to cater for differing levels of ability, experience and competitiveness.
Feilding Intermediate offers a vast array of cultural experiences for children to participate and excel in. Opportunities include kapahaka, dance and drama, music lessons and the school band. We have competed nationally at Cheerleading, and we are regular winners at Wearable Arts. We have an enthusiastic Culture and Arts team who are always on the lookout for other opportunities for our children to perform, engage or be artistically challenged.
