Teacher - Ngā pouako

Tēna koutou katoa. I tipu ake ahua kei raro i te korowai o Ngāti Kauwhata. Ko Ruahine tōku paemaunga. Ko Oroua tōku awa. Ko Tainui tōku waka. Ko Kauwhata tōku marae. No kawakawa ahau. Kei te Papaioea ahau e noho ana. Ko Whaea Amanda Shields tōku ingoa. Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēna tātou katoa.

My name is Amanda Shields and I am a classroom teacher and lead Te Āo Māori here at Feilding Intermediate. Leading Te Āo Māori, which is a passion of mine, involves a range of responsibilities across the school. I work closely with all Māori students and their whānau, ensuring they are settled, making progress, and are feeling successful at school. Also, I work closely with kapa haka and ensure that Te Reo Māori is being effectively taught in all classes.

My teaching career started early in 2014, in Tāmaki Makau-rau (Auckland). I have been teaching at Feilding Intermediate since then, and love being in my hometown.

I delight in interacting with children and believe strongly in building positive relationships with the students in my class and the school.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my whānau, watching movies, reading, and cooking.
